Dr. Ella Bittel saw a horse in Virginia who was happy and healthy at 46 years of age. We do not know when he finally died. She also saw a Beagle of 26 who had cancer.
Cat Fancy competition in 2008 said the oldest cat was 33.
I treated a cat at Brighthave who was 28 and since then several have lived to 28 to 30.
Dr. Marty Goldstein's Golden Retriever lived to 21.
Diane Sever's Border collie is happy and healthy at 22 (or maybe even 24) in 3/09.
PLEASE CLICK COMMENT BELOW AND LIST HOW OLD YOUR ANIMAL WAS AT DEATH, OR HOW OLD IT IS NOW. KNOWING HOW LONG ANIMALS CAN LIVE WILL EMPOWER EACH OF US TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF EACH OF ANIMALS.
We don't have the record for cats but we do have a barn cat that is 15 years old. In our part of the country it is pretty unusual for a strictly outdoor cat to live that long. He has avoided coyotes, foxes, hawks and the neighbors' marauding dogs. I know he isn't pure blood siamese but there was some in the mix. He is seal pointed, cream and has slightly crossed blue eyes. When my son was little he called him Kool Kat and wrote a poem about how his favorite cat walks thin and sleeps fat.

Well, my dog is already 20 now and he's still healthy.
He always had a good appetite and plays well.
